Gill Smith, Freddie Smith and Simon Jenkins are taking part in the September 2011 London to Paris bike ride, in aid of Diabetes UK.
They each have to raise a minimum of £1150-ish to take part and therefore will be hosting various fund-raising events, which we hope you will all support!!!
Itinerary
Friday
- Commence cycling around 7am (exact time to be confirmed)
- Cycle approx 75 miles to Dover mainly on B and minor roads through pretty villages avoiding towns where possible
- Reach Dover Harbour by no later than 6pm
- Take the ferry from Dover to Calais with evening meal on board
- Transfer by bus to accommodation in Dieppe
Saturday
- Commence cycling around 9am (exact time to be confirmed)
- Cycle along the Seine, through countryside and villages, passing castles and monasteries and other points of interest
- Distance covered approx 75 miles
- By about 6pm reach overnight hotel near Giverny on the Seine with restaurant evening meal
Sunday
- Commence cycling at approximately 8.30am
- Continue cycling along Seine valley and through adjacent countryside using minor roads where possible
- Distance covered approx 55 miles
- Arrive in Paris late afternoon – by approx 5pm – champagne reception
- Celebration dinner and night in Paris
- Return following day to London on Eurostar
