FAQ's

Does the chimney lining need to be installed by a qualified installer?
Yes the Lining must be installed by a qualified installer, if for solid fuel it must be installed by a HETAS registered installer and if for gas be installed by a Gas Safe registered installer. The installing company must be accredited by Building Control (Hetas) if they are not they cannot sign the work off so must be signed off by a local inspector to comply with Building J Regulations.
I'm getting smoke leaking into another room or neighbouring property, what could be causing this?
Due to the age of properties this is a common problem in where the chimney deteriorates mainly through corrosion of the lining and mortar joints. If this situation happens to you do not use the appliance until you have has a surveyor visit and carry out a technical survey to assess the problem and provide an estimate and report.

With the Twin Wall insulated flues we can design any bespoke system suitable for where there is no chimney or part existing flues to suit requirements.
Do I need to maintain my chimney?
Yes all chimneys should have a safety check annually by a registered competent person i.e. Hetas registered or Gas Safe registered engineer even after the chimney has been relined.
I have been told that I have a build up of tar within my chimney, is this anything to worry about?
There is a potential danger if there is a build up of tar, this usually is caused by burning wet unseasoned wood which caused condensation within the chimney- please see our creosote removal section on how to avoid this.
